Located in Apex, North Carolina, LYF SUP is a great place to experience life on the water! Perfect Paddles recommends taking a SUP yoga class for a fun, relaxing, and revitalizing time on a board!
LYF SUP was born from a passion for surfing, stand up paddleboarding, yoga, and the great outdoors.
Founder of LYF SUP, Allison Martin-Attix was introduced to the sport by her Dad, a skilled waterman who learned to surf in Hawaii as a boy and can still be found riding waves in California. The ocean no longer at her doorstep, Allison discovered that stand up paddleboarding could get her on a board and in the water without grabbing her surfboard and heading to the beach. The Triangle area’s access to beautiful lakes and rivers and mild weather year round make it the perfect setting for learning and falling in love with SUP!
In the spring of 2013, Allison became certified through PaddleFit and the WPA (World Paddle Association), learning from PaddleFit founder, Brody Welte, and waterman/performance coach, John Denney who, alongside Laird Hamilton, helped pioneer many water sports including SUP. In 2005, Allison became an RYT500 and began leading and teaching yoga throughout the triangle. She created her own SUP Yoga classes in 2013, pioneering the SUP Yoga scene in the area. In 2017, Allison became an E-RYT and a certified sup yoga school through ASI, with plans to expand her offerings in the future. Additionally, she has also attended clinics with Annabel Anderson, the #1 female SUP racer, and more!
Since 2013, LYFSUP has been featured in several blogs, newspapers, and local SUP events. In 2014, LYFSUP was 'Ms. May' in a statewide Adventure Calendar and recently, Allison was a featured speaker at TLC's (Triangle Land Conservancy's) Wild Ideas event. In 2016, Allison was selected by Jimmy Lewis Boards to be a North American SUP ambassador and in 2017, and recently joined the Yogi ATHLETE team for HALA gear in Colorado.
It’s our mission to bring people together through our mutual love of water and our natural environment. In addition to building the paddleboarding community around Jordan Lake, Allison has also founded “She SUPs the Globe”, a global lady paddleboarding movement with a focus on protecting the environment.
