Tell us a little bit about Metta Float:
Well, we started as a collective. We are a team of passionate lovers of the ocean who found the way how to completely unite with it. As soon as we decided to share the magic of SUP with other people, we opened the 1st SUP Tours & Paddleboard Yoga Center in Croatia, located in city Medulin. That was 8 years ago and since then we transferred our passion also to city Pula, where we have two more SUP centers located on Histria beach (SUP Tours) and Ambrela beach (Yoga center).
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience with paddleboarding:
I started my journey with SUP through yoga. In 2001 I went to India for the first time and discovered the traditional yoga philosophy and really embraced it as my spiritual lifestyle.
In Puttaparthi in India I stayed at an ashram which left a major mark on my spiritual growth as did my meeting Sathya Sai Baba who eventually would become my guru. Every time I went back to India I stayed at Sathya Sai Baba’s ashram and devoted myself to Karma Yoga which was very intense spiritually. I really discovered some true transformations which affected my personal growth. In 2009 I finished a 4-monnth “Yogic Studies” course where I received my Jignasa Diksha, which was my
2 nd initiation from Swami Niranjananande.
Ever since then I have become an insatiable seeker, and thankful for the journey yoga took me on. Anyway, that same year I started my 3-year college education and received a degree it fitness training. The very same year she started her 3-year college education and received a degree as a fitness trainer. And between my trips to India, I would spend summer months in the Croatian coastal city of Umag where I worked in a hotel resort as a sports coach giving class in English exclusively. But the real turning point was in 2013 when I decided to open the first SUP Yoga Studio in Croatia and the region, which became my first ever solo project. Surprisingly it took only a few months from the inception of the idea to its complete realization. Everything just fell into place. There truly isn’t anything better than spending time in a yoga studio created by Mother Nature herself, which was what piqued my interest in SUP Yoga to begin with. Just before the beginning of the first Metta Float season I headed off to Portugal’s beautiful Baleal Beach were I finished a SUP course for paddling on calm seas, rivers, and waves under the standards of ASI, which is the Academy of Surfing Instructors. From there, Metta Float just took off and we have been happily taking yoga to the water ever since. And
besides teaching classes in the summer on the water, I also teach Hatha Flow Yoga during the wintertime on our off season for SUP.
Location Overview - Tell us about your water environment:
We have multiple locations which are all great places to paddle. In Pula, there’s a beach we do lessons and rentals at called Histria Beach. Punta is well known for its stunning nature and three small islands which are located only 10min of paddling from our SUP Center. The water is usually pretty calm and flat which is great for paddlers of all skill levels.
We also established a SUP Yoga center in Ambrela Beach which is well known for its crystal-clear sea and Blue Flag award for cleanliness. It’s located at Verudela resort, making it easy to find and also a great place to stay for visitors. The waters are also quite calm and flat in this spot as well.
Services Offered at Metta Float:
We offer SUP Island Tours, what we call Good Morning SUP Tours, Glow Night Tours, Sunset paddles, Sunrise SUP Yoga, Glow Night SUP Yoga, Sunset Yoga, as well as Private Lessons and Tours. Whatever you are looking to do on a SUP, we pretty much offer it. But our specialty is SUP yoga.
Can you tell us some interesting notes about the area?
The two spots where we have our classes and rentals are just beautiful, picturesque places to be. The beaches are exceptionally clean, the water is clear, and there are exciting places to paddle to in the water. We do a 2 hour tour around Pula where we take paddlers around the islands of Fratarski, Froškerić and Frošker. The islands are just amazing to be around and we usually take a little swimming break while snorkeling since the water is so cool.
Is Metta Float seasonal or does it operate year-round?
Due to the lower temperatures in Croatia during the winter, we operate 7 months a year.
Tell us about your favorite local food and why you love it:
Pula is a city on the coast so we have all sort of delicious seafood dishes. Unfortunately it’s not so easy
to choose only one favorite.
Where would you recommend travelers stay nearby?
Two of our SUP centers are located in the Verudela tourist resort, which is a beautiful area to stay in. Ten minutes from the center of Pula, and still, you are surrounded by amazing nature, Mediterranean sea with one of the best sunset views in all Istria. The other SUP center is located in popular city Medulin (13km from Pula) where you can stay in Arena
Grand Kažela camping homes. Pure beauty 🙂
Are there any additional activities nearby that you recommend?
In near by areas you can find all kind of activities such as diving schools, bike tours, kayak tours and more.
We have a few SUP Yoga classes that we offer but I would say our Glow Night SUP Yoga is probably our most unique and popular. We anchor a few boards up, hook them with soft LED lights to light up the water underneath and take participants through a full yoga class.

Morning and Sunset SUP Yoga Classes
Our SUP Yoga is a combination of traditional yogic postures and entertainment provided by floating on a board for Stand Up Paddling. Once you've warmed up paddling a bit, SUP Yoga class can begin.
Stand Up Paddling board is actually your mat, and the outdoor world around you is your yoga studio in which are also invited the elements of sun, wind, and water. Experience a little paradise on earth.
Yoga and Stand Up Paddling go hand in hand since both "lead you straight into the present moment." Both require concentration, balance, breathing, relaxation, adventure spirit, sense of humor, and the ability to surrender to something that is much larger than ourselves. On the one hand, you need to be brave, while on the other, you feel extreme humility and total surrender.
Given the fact that the surface on which you practice is unstable, an entirely new element of the power of the body center kicks in, but also an intense focus and disciplined concentration that raise the exercise to an entirely new level. As a result, you will be more aligned with your positions, and thus with yourself too. Come and experience the magic of deepening your breath, calming the mind, and feeling fuller in harmonization with ourselves and the natural beauty that surrounds us in the water - a feeling of pure bliss. Move your mat on the water. We are waiting for you.
