Hi Gina, tell us a little bit about your background, how you got into paddleboarding, and how Paddle Diva started…
I grew up in New York City but was always drawn to the water. In my twenties, I lived and worked in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Mexico, and all over the Caribbean as a fitness instructor, master PADI Scuba instructor, and in sales and marketing. I moved back to New York to be a marketing executive, for several New York design and advertising firms. Still feeling the draw to the ocean, I would travel out to The Hamptons frequently to get in my water time, windsurfing in Napeague Harbor. Years later I moved to East Hampton full time got married and had two children, when my husband (a world class waterman) brought home his first paddleboard I immediately was drawn to it. As soon as I stepped onto that board, I could see the potential to make this sport accessible to just about anyone who wanted to learn. I started teaching just my close friends, but quickly Paddle Diva was born, as the “go-to” outfit for paddleboard instruction offering lessons, tours, and even SUP Yoga and SUP fitness classes.
Location Overview - Tell us about your water environment:
We opened our permanent location at the Shagwong Marina, nestled west of Springs in East Hampton in 2012. With private beach access, Paddle Diva offers an easy launch into Three Mile Harbor. An enclosed bay, Three Mile harbor offers a wide variety of paddling conditions, perfect for all levels.
Services Offered at Paddle Diva:
We specialize in instructional, safe, and fun paddleboard lessons, tours, fitness classes, along with special events including two-hour long adventure paddles, full moon/sunset paddles, and kids programming. We also offer paddleboard rentals, for those guests with previous experience.
Can you tell us some interesting notes about the area?
With its roots as a fishing village, the first European settlers of the East End lived off both the sea and the land before becoming a refuge for the New York elite. With the first Cattle Ranch in North America and century-old fishing nets, these traditions can be seen all over the modern-day Hamptons.
Is Paddle Diva seasonal or does it operate year-round?
In the Hamptons Paddle Diva typically is open from Mother’s Day through the end of October, or as long as the conditions are still suitable for paddling. In the colder winter months, we have partners operating out of Rincon, Puerto Rico, Boca Raton, Florida, and Bermuda with plans to expand.
Tell us about your favorite local restaurants:
Fresno in East Hampton is one of our favorite locally owned and operated restaurants, offering fresh locally sourced meals the whole family can enjoy. We also love the Italian restaurant Citta Nova, located right in the center of town. They have outdoor seating on the street so you can people-watch while you enjoy their amazing pizzas! For fine dining, we always recommend the 1770 House. It's in a historic building and the food is on point every time I dine there!
Where would you recommend travelers stay nearby?
Gurneys in Montauk offers amazing ocean views, or Topping Rose in Bridge Hampton is centrally located, with friendly attentive staff, in a beautiful atmosphere.
Are there any additional activities nearby that you recommend besides SUP?
When we are not paddle boarding, we are going for long beach walks, catching some waves, or mountain biking through the extensive trails. The East End provides so many outdoor activities we like to take advantage of this beautiful place we call home!

Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons at Paddle Diva, an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school, located at East Hampton, on the East End of Long Island, NY, servicing the Hamptons and Montauk, Sag Harbor, and the North Fork.
Paddle Diva is owned and operated by Gina Bradley. Formerly a fitness instructor, wind-surfing teacher, and PADI certified Scuba Instructor, Gina has hundreds of hours of instruction experience in outdoors water environments. She got involved in SUP early in 2008 and instantly loved it. Gina is an ASI Level 2 SUP Instructor, holding water rescue and first aid qualifications.
Gina started the school in 2009 because of her passion for stand up paddle and love of watersports. She began teaching women in East Hampton and listening to what they wanted from the sport. What resulted almost immediately was the creation of The DIVA board, a women's stand-up paddle board that has been custom built by Nature Shapes for women only.
She’s assisted in the school by ASI qualified instructors and partner, Scott Bradley. He’s an all-round waterman, with elite-advanced SUP racing, SUP surfing, surfboard riding instruction and competition experience, as well as a qualified ocean lifeguard.
Paddle Diva is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre (ITC), with Scott authorised to train others to be ASI accredited stand up paddle instructors.
The SUP school offers group and private stand up paddle lessons, stand up paddle certificate courses and guiding tours and adventures in flat water, SUP surfing, distance paddling and SUP yoga for families, kids, adults, parties, girls only groups, school groups, community groups and corporates. Competition coaching sessions can also be scheduled.
Paddle Diva also conducts SUP retreats in a range of locations including the Hamptons, Caribbean and Costa Rica. They are great way to relax, get fit and enjoy the company of other like-minded suppers.
You can purchase SUP boards and Gina provides assistance on choosing the best size and shape board for your ability. A range of Paddle Diva SUP clothing is also available, specially developed for supping.
East Hampton and surrounds has an amazing variety of flat water, surrounded by nature and wildlife areas. It’s very relaxing and a great escape from the city life. The local waterways offer different levels of paddling ability and interesting tours to suit your skill level.
Gina, Scott and the Paddle Diva instructors are highly skilled, with local waterways knowledge. They know the best places to take you depending on the weather and water conditions. Lessons are delivered to provide tips and techniques so you can learn at your own pace. Above all, you'll have great fun.
