Located in the San Francisco Bay area, Point Reyes Outdoors is your go-to spot for kayak, SUP, and more! Perfect Paddles recommends taking a beginner class to get on the water with their highly qualified teachers.

The San Francisco Bay Area and Point Reyes National Seashore offer some of the best environments on the California coast for learning to paddle. Point Reyes Outdoors offers Beginner through Advanced Classes in Kayaking and Paddleboarding (SUP) on San Francisco Bay, Tomales Bay, and at Dillon Beach. Our classes are offered in partnership with the River & Ocean Paddlesports Coaching Collective, California’s leading provider of Intermediate and Advanced paddlesports instruction.

KAYAKING CLASSES:

If you are interested in learning to kayak, we have (sit-inside) sea kayaks and (sit-on-top) recreational kayaks and experienced, certified instructors ready to introduce you to the wonderful sport of kayaking. We use the beautiful Heart’s Desire Beach on the protected west-shore of Tomales Bay for our introductory ‘Kayak Essentials’ class. We launch from Nick’s Cove for our intermediate ‘Skills Development’ class and from Horseshoe Cove on San Francisco Bay, Lawson’s Landing at the entrance to Tomales Bay and Dillon Beach for our advanced Tidal Currents and ‘Surf Zone’ classes.

PADDLEBOARD (SUP) CLASSES:

Warm water, amazing wildlife, and spectacular views make Tomales Bay a wonderful place to learn to paddleboard. Our certified instructors offer introductory and intermediate classes at Heart’s Desire Beach on the protected west-shore of Tomales Bay. We offer advanced classes on San Francisco Bay, Tomales Bay, and Dillon Beach, including ‘downwind’ classes on San Francisco Bay and Tomales Bay and ‘SUP surfing’ classes at Dillon Beach.
