Learn how to stand up paddle at Stand Up Surfing, an ASI accredited school, located at Margaret River, 3 hours south of Perth, Western Australia.
Stand Up Surfing is a family run business led by Craig Fisher. Craig started surfing at an early age as his family were involved with the Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club as board paddlers from the late 1940’s. Pete Cuff , Craig's father-in-law was one of the first people, in South Africa, to make stand up paddle craft back in the 1950s.
Craig is an ASI accredited SUP instructor, holds surf rescue and first aid qualifications. He also regularly competes in SUP events around Australia.
Craig has lived in the local area for over 16 years and has excellent knowledge of the best locations. Margaret River is a great location to SUP. It is safe with beautiful crystal clear water. Most days you can easily see the bottom including the fish and many reefs.
The school has a range of equipment with different board lengths to suit a variety of people, making it more comfortable to paddle. Stand Up Surfing offers group and private lessons and guided tours for families, adults, parties, school groups and corporates.
Stand Up Surfing also provides camping and glamping accommodation near the town.
Stand Up Surfing is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre and Craig Fisher is authorised to train ASI SUP Instructors.
SUP is an amazing sport as it has so many facets to it. You can paddle any time of day, you don’t have to wait for waves or travel long distances to find the surf. You can see more in and around the ocean when you are in a stand up paddling position.
Our many customers cannot be wrong. Here are some of what they have to say.
“Thank you for introducing me to SUP. You were very patient and straight away I felt at safe and at ease.” Leanne from Perth
“I totally enjoyed your lessons. I’m not that good at sport but you made it easy to learn and I felt a great sense of achievement that I can actually SUP. It was the best holiday ever and I’m hooked! Can’t wait to get my new SUP board.” Neil from Mandurah
“Thank you for a great time. It was a totally different experience. I loved being on the water, seeing fish beneath the water and then going to the cafe nearby with the rest of the group. Very social and fun.” Ada from Germany.
